"Cars, Boobs, and Scales"
02/05/2003
Well, it's already February and life in the Castle seems to be plodding along. A couple of weekends ago the Clanlad raced his car in the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby. He didn't win but he didn't come in last either. Both are the results I was hoping for. See, since he's officially moved and left his Den it wouldn't be fair for him to actually win a prize. They were nice enough to let him come back and participate for the event. That's really all he wanted anyway, just a chance to see his friends and race his car.
Unfortunately this event caused me to miss what will probably be the ONLY meeting of TeamWench for the Pirate Feast. That too is probably for the best though. I decided last year that I wasn't going to do the AVON Breast Cancer Walk again. For one because I hurt my foot training (see "plantar fasciitis") and my leg swelled pretty badly last year. The other reason is that I got nothing out of the walk. I kept hearing about and expecting this big "emotional high", but it just never came. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good cause and I'm glad I had the experience but I won't be doing it again.
I also decided that I'm quitting TeamWench after the Pirate Feast. I've never been really comfortable in that group. Partially because I'm about the only male but mostly because I don't agree with how it's run. As a group they're almost completely unorganized and everything seems to be a mad rush. That type of environment makes my Virgo skin crawl. I need order, clear goals and active leadership, not two meetings a year, constant whining, no discussion for three months and then a flurry of activity. Plus there's those little life issues like Celly moving up here, a wedding to plan, motorcycle trips to take, etc.
This past weekend I assembled a computer desk and setup Celly's old PC for my mother to use. She has to get another phone line activated in her "office" and then I'll set her up with internet access. This terrifies me not because she doesn't get computers. She does, which is pretty cool for someone her age. What's truly frightening is that she is a QVC junkie. She gets at least one box from them every week. I shudder to contemplate what will happen when she finds out all the stuff you can get online. If anyone mentions "ebay" to her, I'll beat you to death with a NEW-in-the-box George Foreman grill.
On the weight loss front, I've managed to lose 5 lbs in the last month. That's only half of what I had planned on for those of you keeping score at home. Granted I've slacked a lot this month, but I'm still working on it. The first few workouts almost killed me. Not when I was doing them but about 48 hours later when my muscles realized their Van Winkle nap was over and started protesting. Severely. *sigh* I'm in worse shape than I thought I was. So I'm at 315 lbs and I hope to be lower than 310 by March 8th.
Can I just say how excited I am about Marcy and Todd's wedding? Though I am happy for The Marcy (even if this means we'll probably never run off to live happily everafter in Delaware -- the land of tax-free shopping), I'm more excited to see friends that I haven't seen in ages. Plus it's an excuse to dress up and show off my fiancée.
Damn, I guess Ani was right. I did have more to say than I thought.

Sorry to hear that you will be leaving TeamWench. Your "male" perspective will be missed. I am also sorry to read that you think our group is unorganized and that we only had one meeting before the Feast. We had a meeting a less than a month ago, there was a small meeting at the SnB and those ideas have been brought to the attention of the committee chairman (mainly me). There is no need to have weekly or even monthly meetings because we do quite a bit of our "talking" via the TeamWench List.
I don't feel unorganized at all. From my perspective each committee has their act together and this year will be even better than last. Yes, there are last minute things, hell, I had to ask how many tables had been used last year.
As Danicia and Karen say quite often, this is NOT BRAIN SURGERY!
You'll be missed.

Hugs darling. You will be missed from the Team Wench board. We may not seem as organized as, say, a company, but we do manage to get things done. Perhaps its just the way we women work. Without other male forces there, yours must have seemed like a voice in the wind at times. I'm sorry that it came to that.
As for the walk you were on, I too missed the "high" from the previous year. It was not there--I'm not sure why. As another non-walker this year (I need to reclaim my LIFE this year), I'll be cheering on the sidelines that weekend. Wanna join me?

One nice thing about shooting at this hotel is the atmosphere, the restaurant looked particularly beautiful lit by candlelight. We had a great time, as the drink flowed the language barriers were broken down (with the help of a large dictionary). Good news from Off the Rack. You both accept and love each other for who you are. Court order if 15 years of age. Today i will not feel guilty that i have to admit that i don't know what it's like to be with someone who doesn't understand me, who doesn't listen to me, who takes me for granted. le mariage de figaro beaumarchais beaumarchais le mariage de figaro tomy mariage mariage freres the common lawmariage in pennsylvamia
