I promised an update soon. Eight days is pretty soon, isn't it? Well, first things first:

Congratulations Lieutenant John!

I imagine Lisa will be putting up her own announcement soon (Hint! Hint!) but for now I get to be the first to let you know that MrWhizzr passed his Lieutenant's Exam for the police department! Just make sure you use ALL FIVE fingers when saluting...

Now to update the quick list I made last week:

  • Finish financial worksheet
I created an Excel spreadsheet that can track not only all of my bills for the year but what I spend money on. I think I like it better than Quicken because it also predicts how much I need to hold back from each check to pay the next month's bills on time. It will also tell me how close I am to either short term goals ($2000 for a motorcycle downpayment) or long term goals (paying off a loan). This year we were switched to a bi-monthly pay schedule instead of every two weeks so I still don't know the amount of my paychecks.
  • Update Quicken
I still haven't done this yet, but I don't need it for my taxes since I generally use the EZ form. Although this will probably be the last year or two that I can do that.
  • Rework my budget to match new pay periods at work
This one is pretty much the same as the number 1 but I was so stressed at the time that it seemed like two different things.
  • Setup Mom's PC
  • Clean out my PC
  • Clean up and reorganize my website
I've been playing with CSS and PHP lately. If I can ever find the time to redo the Castle, it'll make a HUGE difference in maintaining the site.
  • Quit smoking
I tried this week but it lasted about half a day.
  • Eat better
I've started this... mostly. Actually I was flipping around the cable channels last night and came across the Discovery Health channel. They were showing "Body Challenge" which tracked the 12 week weight loss program of 6 people. It was pretty interesting and at one point one of the contestants (they were competing for a cruise) showed how he tracked his food and exercise. He used a program from Diet Center. It looks pretty interesting so I think I might sign up for it.
  • Move my ass daily
I actually did do this one twice this week. I think I did a little too much though because last night I could barely move AT ALL. I'm still inspired though from that Discovery channel show (by the way, Body Challenge 2 airs January 16th.) I can't really afford a gym membership but I might check the County facilities.
  • Finish procedureal documentation for work
    Done!!
  • Create "new" New User forms for work
  • Work on intranet site at work
  • And so much more that I feel like I'm forgetting right now...
I would update you on this one but... I forgot. (hehehehe. I crack myself up.)

The good news is that I'm feeling more like myself than I was. Maybe it was a seasonal thing or a holiday thing. I don't know. I do know that my head seems much clearer and I'm more focused.

Thanks for the accolades, even if they're jumping the gun a bit. Passing the exam just means that I'm eligible for consideration when they decide a position is open. Granted, being number two on the list means my chances are pretty good, but it ain't written in stone just yet. You're all certainly welcome to keep your fingers crossed for me though. *g*

Yay, Gareth! I saw the Body Challenge, too. Very inspiring to see how the competitors were able to change their bodies. On the other hand, the cynical me said, they have trainers and nutritionists helping them, plus exposure on national friggin' tv to motivate them. Harumph.

P.S. Getcher ass moving
