"Do you take this fork, to have and to hold..."
11/04/2002
Wow. It's November already. This past weekend I went down to NC to visit Celly. She's been feeling under the weather for the last week but we didn't have much planned to do. Since Sunday was All Saints she had a little solo in the morning church service and I try not to miss a chance to hear her sing.
Saturday we basically lounged around the house. I made her spend a lot of time napping. In the evening we went over to her parents house for dinner. Her mother made chicken, which is a fine meal by itself and one of the staples of my diet, but what really rocked was Celly's dad's homemade sweet pepper relish. A little bit of that on your fork then a piece of chicken... Mmmm.
Anyway, after dinner, we sat in the livingroom with her parents and talked about the wedding. We didn't really come up with a solid plan since it's still two years off. Celly and her mother kept discussing dresses and church decorations. It was cute watching Celly get all girly and gushy while showing her mother pictures of dresses that she had ripped from the pages of whatever wedding-porn magazines The Marcy had given her. So far my betrothed doesn't show any signs of turning into Bridezilla and her mother is all for us having the wedding the way we want it. Can I just say here that I love my mother-in-law?!
The only thing I'm concerned with right now is how many people can we afford. I think I've got a pretty good idea. At least to within 10 either way. Now we're going to start looking for a place to hold the reception. Celly's going to check out a place that has a permanent pavillion set up so that effectively it's outdoors but walls can be put up in case of rain or extreme cold.
After church on Sunday, we went to an antique mall to look for an interesting chess set for the Clanlad. We didn't find anything but we did buy a copper latern for Faire. We also looked and commented on different styles of furniture. Luckily we both have the same tastes and lifestyle so we're finding that decisions are pretty easily made with regards to our future home. After the antique mall, we went over the Mikasa outlet and walked through their showroom. It took us about 10 mins to find flatware and dinnerware that we both liked. Naturally, Celly wants to keep looking in case there's something else out there that she likes better but I'm perfectly happy with what we looked at.
All of the above information will be on the wedding website once I finish making it. However you, my loyal readers, get a little preview. Aren't you lucky?

Even though I'm looking for wedding ideas, I agree, Darcy, "A Wedding Story" is usually just a little over-the-top for me. *g* I'll watch occasionally for a couple minutes to see if there's anything interesting... I'm usually disappointed!
For some reason, I just don't fit into the "typical" 20-something bride with a sparkily, fairy-tale wedding with size 2 bridesmaids! ;^D (Er, and don't really WANT to, thankyouverymuch!)
BTW, anybody wanna a start a pool for when the Clan Chief will update the page? *gd&r-bab*

True, after all the interviews and the rehearsal dinner, you usually end up seeing the bride in the Standard Huge White Sparkly Princess dress, and close friends mumbling toasts (wince) into microphones. But I did catch one really unusual couple who got married in Luray Caverns and used a lot of pagan, wiccan and American Indian traditions in their ceremony. Any surprise they were from the DC area? None here! I'm only surprised they didn't meet at MDRF! Personally, I don't watch the show to see the dress or the ceremony... I watch it to see the big emotions. I love it when the groom cries when he sees his bride walking toward him. Really! I'm such a sap.
