"This is the idea"

09/06/2002

What are you trying to put in my mouth, mister?

...and the idea is this. Each week I'm going to pick at least one picture from the weekend and invite you, my faithful readers, to fill in the word balloons. So put on your "snarky bonnets" and join the fun.

Oh, and I am totally stealing this idea from Sunni. Let's get that right out in the open now before she starts yelling at me.

Pictures from Opening Weekend are online. There are also some pictures from the second weekend of MDRF along with some from my birthday dinner at Mike's Crabhouse. Originally I just felt like eating crabs so I told some people and left it open for whoever wanted to join Celly and me. But nooo, that wasn't good enough for some people. First Russell (and I'm sure Ani had a hand in suggesting it) got our waiter to bring me the biggest freakin' ice cream cone I've ever seen and the whole table sang "Happy Birthday". Thankfully no one started that birthday dirge song. *shudder* I am not a fan of that song.

After the ice cream got delivered, Celly pulls out a bag which obviously contains a present. I say obviously because she kept telling me to give my camera to Shrew. (I'm slow, not a moron.) Knowing the group at the table as I do, I viewed the box inside the bag with more than a little trepidation. I was looking at the back of the box as I removed it from the bag and all I saw was that it was a clock. Then Celly said, "It talks!".

I have to admit that the first thing that went through my mind was that the clock told dirty jokes or cussed or something equally strange. Because as I said, I know you people. Fortunately nobody thought of that or I'm a lot more corrupt and evil than I thought.

Celly had shipped the clock to Keltik who had then run around Faire on the first weekend and got a lot of my friends to record little messages on the clock. Then she pasted a picture of each speaker to the hour in which their message is played! It is one of the coolest presents I've ever gotten. I was incrediblely touched that not only did Celly and Keltik go to all this trouble but that they found 11 people that wanted to participate.

I had planned on writing a review of the weekend and tallying all the hugs, kisses and presents I got, but I've just been too busy. It was a great weekend. Even the rain was a blessing in that it cooled down the heat wave and gave Celly and me a good excuse to run away from faire early Sunday and just be normal. Well, as normal as I ever get anyway. Thank you all for a most excellent birthday weekend.

I was thinking more along the lines of:

Really you should be fearing ME.

I am menacing. The Squeaky Hammer of Doooooom is just silly.

I'm especially menacing while wearing Celly's sheep-ears.
