"Lifestyle Metamorphosis"

01/15/2002

Well, there's good news and bad news; which do you want first?

Good News:
I know it's only been a day, but I am still determined to be the studly, svelte sex god that I know I can be. (BTW, I'm starting this little endeavor at 309 lbs. I don't have a specific weight I want to be instead I want to get to a particular size and degree of health.) By most outside standards I haven't done great in my new lifestyle over the last couple of days. However, I have never been one to be a slave to other people's standards. Because of my whole "blood clot, protein C deficiency, take Coumadin for the rest of my life" thing, I can't make drastic changes to my diet. I have to do it slow so that my body has time to get used to it. I did manage to ask myself "Will this food help, hinder, or hurt me in my quest for studliness?" everytime I started to eat or drink something. None of my choices fell into the "hurt" catagory.

Oh I'm well aware that you may disagree and say, "But GarGar, shouldn't you have had a nice green salad instead of that grilled chicken sandwhich for lunch?" Don't think I can't hear you mumbling out there. To you, I say "Nay gentle reader, for as big a fan as I am of the nice green salad, taking in that much Vitamin K (while good and healthy for most people, it's not for me. Vitamin K is very concentrated in green veggies and promotes blood clotting) in when I'm not used to it would likely cause my leg to swell or send me running to the hospital. Granted I could have had a ton of fresh fruit, and while it might not have the same effect as a nice green salad, I'm not really sure what it would do. The best thing for me to do is change one meal or area of consumption at a time.

So this week is all about breakfast. I had a yogurt and a banana when I got to work this morning and another banana at about mid-morning. I'm not sure what I'll be having this afternoon for a snack, but you can bet it won't be anything from Hostess!

Bad News:
My credit card number was lifted somehow last month and as a result I cancelled it. The problem arises in the fact that I still haven't received my new credit card number in almost a month. Which means my fees for domain hosting have effectively bounced and they don't take, "But my credit company hasn't gotten me my new card yet!" as a viable reason for non-payment. *sigh*

I did call the credit company and very politely remind them that I was *still* waiting for that card, stressing that I have bills to pay. I didn't point out if I had known it would take 14 years to get a new card, I would have made other arangements. They also wouldn't give me the new card number over the phone so I couldn't call my hosting company and have them change my billing information over the phone. But what's done is done and unfortunately it looks like my site will be down for the rest of the week. Just as soon as I have the information I'll get the castle back online. Hopefully by then I'll have more news regarding my "Lifestyle Metamorphosis".

Mmmm... although maybe I should pick a different term -- one that doesn't sound like I'm having elective surgery to remove primary sexual characteristics.
